NTAC Skill Maintenance: Natural Point of Aim and Retention Fire

Natural Point of Aim (NPA) and retention fire are two defensive handgun techniques that are often overlooked or even difficult to practice in traditional range settings.

This Skill builder will you to focus on developing and improving your NPA and retention fire skills by utilizing drills that specifically require the use of these shooting positions.

Prerequisites:  NTAC Defensive Handgun strongly recommended

Round Count: Minimum 200

Required Equipment:

• Eye and ear protection
• Concealment garment(s) that you normally use
• Belt
• Holster and magazine carriers compatible with your pistol
• Minimum three (3) magazines for your pistol (more is recommended)
• Long pants
• Closed toe shoes

Restricted Gear:

• No Serpa Style, nylon or ‘sticky’ holsters

Recommended Items to Bring:

• Notepad and pen for notes
• Water
• Snacks to sustain you
