Peer Supporter Certification For Public Safety Professionals
The PSWEC Peer Supporter Certification is designed specifically for public safety professionals to meet the requirements for POST certification and peer support teams as laid out in Utah law 78B-5-901 “Public safety peer counseling”. This one-day course will guide public safety agencies needing to start a peer support team or help them strengthen their current one.
Participants will explore the following,
• Utah peer support law including allowances and limitations
• The role of a peer supporter
• Effective peer support team functioning and organization
• Mental wellness and psychological principles in public safety professionals
• Tools to empower the peer supporters
• Accessible resources
About the Trainers
PSWEC provides the best instructors available. Our courses are taught by a public safety mental health expert and experienced active or retired public safety professionals.
Training Developer
Dr. Tia White, DSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker, researcher, program and curriculum developer, and training instructor. With a Doctorate and master’s in social work her
education focus has been on the best ways to holistically empower communities, develop programs, initiate, translate, and apply research, and engage public safety in specialized clinical
treatments. Tia owns The Wellness & Empowerment Center (The WEC) in Orem that offers mental health services for public safety professionals and their families.
