SUMMARY:
This classroom-based course qualifies you to apply for a Utah concealed carry permit, which is the most recognized permit in the nation. Obtaining this permit will give you the ability to carry in 37 states. (learn which states don’t have restrictions in the class)
This class covers the state mandated training which include:
- Basic Mechanics and operations
- Basic Firearms Safety
- Loading and unloading
- Carrying types and concealment
- Legal instruction of justifiable force, Citizens arrest, Reciprocity, and transportation
- Legal instruction on escalation of force and self defense
- Storage
- Criminal and civil liability
This class does not teach tactical training, weapon use, drawing from concealment, it s a technical class that meets the requirements to obtain the concealed firearms permit only. For training of use, browse the other classes.
After taking this course, you will have met the state required training and tasks necessary to apply for a (Concealed Firearms Permit) CFP from the State of Utah, including the fingerprints and photo.
Teachers (or anyone who works inside a school) can take this concealed course for free! Teachers must show ID, when you attend for the fee waiver. (or proof of some kind they work in a school)
Please arrive 30 minutes early for fingerprints and photos. Arrive on time to avoid missing required information. Anyone arriving more than 10 minutes late won’t be admitted to the class.
The class is a minimum of 4 hours (per state requirement) a short break will be taken in the middle to use restroom and eat. You may bring a lunch. We also have a variety of sodas and light snacks available to purchase. This class may go over the allotted time depending on fingerprinting and photos. (to avoid being stuck in line for prints and photos, arrive early)

Q. How do I register online?

Here are some step-by-step instructions:
STEP 1: READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE.
STEP 2: Using form on this page, select the date and time of the course you wish to attend.
STEP 3: Select the number of attendees in your group. (This will calculate the registration fee for you.)
STEP 4: Enter the names of all the people in your group in the “Attendee Names” field.
STEP 5: Select the number of people in your group that will be getting fingerprints and photos done at the time of the course.
STEP 6: Click the “Add to Cart” button.
Q. What do I need to bring when I attend the CCW course?
A. All you need is your current state-issued ID and your payment in check or credit card to cover the state fee.
Q. Does the $25 include everything?
A. The $25 registration fee covers the cost for you to attend the class and includes a full set of fingerprints, a photo (passport size). Utah State requires an additional application fee of ($53.25 for UT residents, $63.25 for out-of-state residents).
Q. Can I bring my own fingerprints and photo?
A. Yes, you can; however, these items are included in your course. Bringing your own will not discount the course.
Q. What are the prohibited acts that prevent me from obtaining a permit?
A. The following will prevent you from approval
Convicted of a felony!
Convicted of any crime of Violence!
Convicted of any offense involving alcohol, controlled substance or narcotics!
Convicted of any offense involving moral turpitude, or domestic violence!
Adjudicated as mentally incompetent!
Q. Where do we pay for the application fee?
A. The application fee must be paid to Utah State and can be paid with a credit card, cash, or a check when you attend the course.
Q. I am bringing one or more guests. How do I sign up everybody for the course?
A. Using the fields above, select the date of the course you are registering for, select the number of attendees, and enter the attendees names in the appropriate box.
Q. How long is your CCW course?
A. You should allow approximately 4.5 hours from start to finish.
Q. When can I send in my application?
A. You can mail your completed application, along with your fingerprints and photo immediately upon completing of the course.
Q. How long does it take to receive my permit?
A. You should allow for approximately 35-40 days for the BCI to process your application. If you have submitted your application more than 40 days ago and have not received your permit, you can check the status of the application by calling the BCI at 801-965-4445.
Q. What if my application get rejected?
A. There are no refunds for rejected applications.
Q. What if I can’t make it to the class? Can I reschedule?

Q. Is there a “sales pitch” in the class?
A. We offer a variety of additional training classes, you will find them here on the site, a ready gunner representative will hand out a brochure of the classes at the end of the class, a discount for additional classes will be offered at the end of the session.
A firearms insurance representative will be on site as well if you would like to sign up for personal insurance.
