David Lynton
Staff Instructor
Originally from the east coast, David traveled extensively throughout Europe; while spending time in Spain, France, Holland and Scotland, David also lived in England and an Israeli kibbutz.
David’s first interest in Utah occurred while on a road trip to California; a chance encounter with a Utah native made Utah his next destination, and eventually his permanent home.
Having trained with Fred Villari and Charles Mattera, David’s martial arts experience enabled him to own and operate a dojo for 14 years in Provo, while concurrently managing eight dojos in Utah and three in Las Vegas. He continues to teach the art of Shaolin Kempo to many students.
As a volunteer with Utah County Search and Rescue (SAR) since 1992, David is on call 24/7. David is one of SAR’s trackers, has participated in hundreds rescues, and continues to train with SAR for swift water, avalanche, ice, open water and rope rescues. David’s further commitment to SAR includes serving as a training Sergeant and board member.
A proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, David also operated a multi-national business with his wife until 2024.
David is a certified Concealed Firearm Permit instructor and NRA pistol instructor, and a steadfast 2nd Amendment advocate.
