Matt Brandley
Staff Instructor
Even before Matt moved from a small farm town in Alberta, Canada to Las Vegas when he was 15, he has always been drawn to firearms, and the American military.
Matt fell into the audio/video industry at age 17, and began touring with, setting up stage, and doing live audio for bands, including Three Dog Night, Styx, ZZTop, Blink 182, Goldfinger, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Collin Raye and several others. All while earning a double bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Communications.
In 2009, while designing and drafting for a mechanical engineering firm, Matt started doing audio for televised fighting tournaments including boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, and mixed martial arts. This led to him working on The Ultimate Fighter TV show, where he would monitor up to 12 fighters at once in the house, and then record their bouts. From there he began working on the ‘COPS’ TV show, filming police officers in true reality as they performed their daily duties.
While being shot at and being part of all of the crazy stuff that happens on the city streets of Las Vegas at night was fun, Matt decided to move to Utah to go back to school and get his Masters in Manufacturing Engineering. However, after a year he abandoned his degree to commit to a career in film where he has traveled to over 30 countries creating media and working on several commercials, documentaries, television shows, and feature films.
During that time he met Joe Fowler, and the two of them became fast friends. Sharing a love of firearms and freedom, they started Berserker Creative and now create media for over 30 clients in the firearms industry. Being embedded in this industry has allowed Matt and Joe to receive hours of intense firearm and tactical training from some of the nation’s premiere instructors.
However, Matt put all of that on hold and joined the US Army. There he served in 19th Special Forces Group (SFG), until he had an accident on an airborne jump which caused him to have a severe traumatic brain injury, a stroke, and a three week coma. His recovery caused him to be stationed in Washington, where he worked with 1st SFG until being medically discharged due to his injuries. Since then he has returned to Utah and continues to work on feature films and documentaries.
With Joe Fowler, the two of them head the content creation for Nielsen Training and Consulting (N-TAC).
