Myke Laws
Staff Instructor
Myke considers himself a regular guy and communicates (the majority of the time) via movie quotes and pop-culture references, with an added flavor of a self-proclaimed advanced sense of humor. With a day job in software, nerdy hobbies involving gaming, golf, sports, dad duties, and non-stop home/friend projects; helping others is his favorite thing to do. You’ll find that the more varied your personality, experience, and background, the more excited he is to get to know you. When it comes to instructors, Myke tends to be a favorite with NTAC’s new and younger shooters.
Born to a mechanical engineer from southern Utah and ranch-raised mother from Montana, Myke was raised with tools in his hands and a knack for tinkering. Exposed to firearms at the age of 7, the obsession with the mechanics and competent application of firearms grew to encompass competition shooting, manual machining, dedication to training (as student and instructor), sporadic exposure/contract work with LE/government units, and product testing with some of the biggest brands in the defense industry.
“Rufio” is the nickname adopted and given by members of a military unit in their pre-deployment phase (circa 2009) during a combined multi-week training/refresher course hosted by the DoD. For the sake of additional context, in the movie Hook, Rufio was the leader of the lost boys, and those of us here at NTAC find it a fitting moniker to Myke’s natural ability as a leader.
