DESCRIPTION

Our Beginner Rifle course was designed to help you get familiar with your own firearm, and feel comfortable using it, understanding the mechanics of the rifle, being familiar with the way it feels in your own hands and how it reacts when you fire it. We will ensure that you have an adequate foundation and understanding of safety, handling, care, along with a new level of confidence in your ability to handle and shoot your rifle. 

This class will provide an environment where you can openly ask questions about anything regarding your rifle. Others attending will be novice and beginner shooters with limited experience, the material covered is designed to be non-threatening and move at a pace that allows you to gain confidence and familiarity in your abilities.

TIME COMMITMENT

Six total hours, consisting of 1.5 hours classroom, 4.5 hours range time.

REQUIRED GEAR

1. A properly functioning carbine or rifle
2. At least 3 rifle magazines (5 or more are recommended)
3. 400-600 rounds of rifle ammunition
4. Magazine pouches for your rifle magazines
5. A sturdy belt to support your magazines
6. A quality sling
7. Eye protection
8. Electronic hearing protection
9. Appropriate range attire: closed-toe shoes, long pants, and crew neck shirt

SUGGESTED/OPTIONAL GEAR

1. Sharpie type pen for marking targets
2. Pen and notepad for taking notes
3. Hat or other head covering
4. Gloves
5. Knee pads and elbow pads
6. Footwear that you can stand in all day (boots are highly recommended)
7. Sunscreen or raingear (if outdoors, this course will go on rain or shine)
8. Refillable water bottle for hydration
9. Food or snacks to sustain you for the duration of the course

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Ammunition not allowed: armor piercing or steel core ammo (you will be responsible for paying for any damage to the range or steel targets)

WHAT'S NEXT?

After taking this course, participants will be prepared to take Rifle Proficiency where you will have some repetition of the above techniques along with learning movement techniques, multiple targets, loading and unloading while moving and shooting, body mechanics and follow up shots.
