Natural Point of Aim and Retention Fire (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — How to safely and effectively fire your weapon from retention when you don't have time or space to utilize the sights.
Natural Point of Aim (NPA) and retention fire are two defensive handgun techniques that are often overlooked or even difficult to practice in traditional range settings. This skills maintenance class will help you to focus on developing and improving your NPA and retention fire skills by utilizing drills that specifically require the use of these shooting positions. Join us for this fast paced class and get your reps in. We’ll finish the class using a simplified version of the drill from the infamous alley scene from the movie ‘Collateral’. Move and Shoot (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — Get off the X! Learn to effectively shoot and hit your target while you are moving.
Gunfights are not static... don’t stand in one spot and become a target! This live fire course will focus on incorporating movement into your Concealed Carry skill set. Working entirely from concealment, movement will be introduced into your training while still working on the essential deployment and accuracy skills necessary to be remain proficient with your everyday carry gear. If you have attended the NTAC Defensive Rifle course you can attend with a rifle or long gun.
PREREQUISITES: Defensive Handgun / Defensive Rifle

Barricade Fundamentals (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — Practice utilizing cover or concealment to shoot from behind barricades.
Concealment is good, but cover is better. In a self-defense situation, cover could give you the advantage while saving your life. But once you’re behind cover, how do you best utilize cover for protection while returning accurate fire? Utilizing the VTAC Barricade system, this fast-paced course forces you to move through a variety of shooting positions, maintain cover and return accurate fire. Ultimately, you will come away from this course with a better understanding of what cover positions will work best for you. Rifle or pistol (or a combination of the two) may be used for this course.

Low Light Fundamentals (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — Practice using a handheld or weapons mounted light to clearly identify your target and shoot in low light situations.
Live fire practice under different lighting conditions and scenarios. Even during the day, low light conditions still occur in areas like parking structures, public garages, or service corridors. Darkness significantly impacts your ability to clearly see objects, individuals and potential threats; in a self-defense situation, the successful use of illumination will give you a critical advantage. This course will provide you with the fundamentals of integrating a hand held or weapon mounted light into your self-defense training, and consists of two modules:
- Examples of various types of handheld and weapon mounted lights
- Carry and deployment of lights
- Integrating the light into your firearm deployment
- Manipulating the light and pistol simultaneously
- Live fire practice to compare and evaluate the light deployment that works best for you
PREREQUISITES: Defensive Handgun / Defensive Rifle is required.
Handgun Manipulations, Rifle Manipulations, and Transitions: Holsters, Slings, and Support Side (Skills Maintenance) are also encouraged.

Transitions: Holsters, Slings, and Support Side (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — How to quickly and safely transition from rifle to handgun and back, how to shoot from either strong side or support side, and how to choose which one to utilize in various different situations.
Why transition from a rifle to a pistol or from a pistol to a rifle? Why transition from your strong side to your support side? The ability to smoothly (and safely) transition between your rifle and pistol or from your strong side to your support side provides you with options – whether the threat is close in, or at distance, or you have a stoppage, or better use of cover... being able to efficiently transition between your weapons keeps you in the fight. This is an advanced and physically demanding training course that will sharpen your skills at transitioning:
- Pistol to rifle
- Rifle to pistol
- Pistol strong hand to support hand and back
- Rifle strong side to support side and back

Focus on Fundamentals (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — Practice drawing from concealment, shooting quickly and accurately, and reloading with a concealment garment.
Want to work on you fundamental Concealed Carry skills? This high speed live fire course is designed to focus on live fire practice and provide you with reps utilizing your everyday carry gear. Working entirely from concealment, get your reps in and practice your fundamental deployment, accuracy, reload and trigger skills.
PREREQUESITES – Handgun Proficiency is required, and Defensive Handgun is highly recommended.

CQB Fundamentals and Home Defense (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — Learn the fundamentals of home defense and CQB (Close Quarters Battle)
Close Quarters Battle or CQB is most closely associated with advanced military and Law Enforcement training – however, civilians will find that learning fundamental CQB skills will enhance their home defense strategies. This course will provide you with core fundamentals of safe movement through a structure, and consists of two modules:
- Identify safe areas in your home that could be used to protect yourself and your family
- Learn how to move from room to room in a safe manner that would be useful for gathering your family members for retreat to your designated safe area or escape from the threat
- Review relevant Utah code related to home and personal defense
- Implement what your learned in the classroom, potentially encountering shoot/no shoot scenarios as you move through simulated rooms and corridors
PREREQUESITES – Defensive Handgun / Defensive Rifle
MINIMUM ROUND COUNT – 100 rounds
CCW Challenge (Skills Maintenance)
2 hours — Hone your conceal carry, self defense, and decision making skills with live fire training scenarios based on real-world events, including after action interactions with other people at the scene and law enforcement.
Does your EDC gear really work for you? Starting with a basic gear shake out for use and functionality, we’ll work through monthly live fire challenges of increasing complexity. The course of fire for these event scenarios will be different each month, and may consist of multiple scenarios in unusual conditions, including but not limited to:
- Shoot / no shoot decisions
- Low light / no light
- Multiple threats
- Hostage situations
- Weapon stoppages or malfunctions
- Team tactics
- Room clearing
Learn first-hand how good decision making is just as important as accurate hits on target. At the conclusion of the event, we’ll have a debrief to review what went right, and what improvements are possible. Bring your Every Day Carry gear and join us for this unique challenge!
