DESCRIPTION

This class will cover the same skills as the coed class, but from the perspective of additional things that are concerns for ladies.  You may want to learn to shoot so you can do it with family or friends, or out of a genuine need to feel safer.  Even if you are nervous about shooting your handgun, we can guide you through how to do it safely and correctly so you leave excited to have learned a new skill!  We'll touch on options for carrying a self-defense firearm with your wardrobe, maintaining situational awareness, and planning ahead of time what you will do and how you can set yourself up for success before you ever need to draw you gun. 

This class will be a safe, low stress introduction to using a handgun.  We start in the classroom where we will spend time getting to know your gun, understanding why it does what it does, and practice operating it while its unloaded so you can get comfortable with it before we put any live ammo in it.  We'll practice the rules of safe gun handling and give you a brief overview of the laws regarding when you are justified using your firearm.  

We'll show you how to correctly grip, aim, and hold the gun steady while you press the trigger during live fire practice; all the essential building blocks of marksmanship for getting your shots on target.  You'll get in lots of reps to build your familiarity and confidence with your handgun, and receive feedback from instructors to help you dial in your accuracy.  

We love to see students transform from feeling uncertain or nervous into feeling excited, empowered and proud of themselves for successfully learning to use their firearm!

MINIMUM ROUND COUNT – 150 rounds

REQUIRED GEAR

1. A properly functioning handgun
2. At least 2 magazines for your handgun, enough to hold 20+ total rounds of ammo
3. Minimum of 150 rounds of practice ammo for that handgun (may purchase at the range)
4. Eye protection
5. Electronic hearing protection
6. Appropriate range attire: closed-toe shoes, long pants, and shirts with a high, flat neckline

NOTE: Pistols and eye and ear protection are available for rent or purchase at most of our training ranges. Rental handguns all take 9mm practice ammo. Please call the range ahead of time to verify availability if you want to rent a handgun.

SUGGESTED/OPTIONAL GEAR

1. Sharpie type pen for marking targets
2. Pen and notepad for taking notes
3. Hat or other head covering
4. Gloves
5. Knee pads and elbow pads
6. Footwear that you can stand in all day (boots are highly recommended)
7. Sunscreen or raingear (if outdoors, this course will go on rain or shine)
8. Refillable water bottle for hydration
9. Food or snacks to sustain you for the duration of the course

PREREQUISITES

No prerequisites, but you may consider attending Intro to Handgun if you are particularly intimidated by firearms.
